My academic and professionnal background gave me the opportunity to acquire great knowledge in digital medias, which includes audio files, images, as well as videos, ZIP files, binaries and everything related to their internal representation and their treatment in a computer.
Computer imaging and infographics regroup everything that relates to acquisition, creation, treatment and processing of data (signals). In conjunction with with my understanding in the domain of artificial intelligence, the applicative domains are practically limitless.
Videogames interest me especially from a development point of view. In fact, with all these game projects among my asset, whether being from the GameJams or from my own initiative, I was able to realize that the quality of a videogame's code is strongly related to the quality of the game itself.
Whether we are talking about a professionnal movie making software, or about an user presence detecting and eye-tracking software used to save power in Lenovo laptops, I was forthrightly able to gain an important amount of relevant know-how for this type of applications, on many platforms.
It is fair to say that mobile apps ar omnipresent in anyone's life. This is why I wanted to make one from the ground up, which would allow me to better understand how they function. From the ideation stage to their publishing on the distribution market, I was able to familiarize myself with the process.
VR is an interesting piece of technology by itself that allowed me to diversify my expertise. By allying my videogame making skills to the ones I have in signal processing, I was plainly able to make capital and useful understandings, thanks to virtual reality development.
Ideal platform to develop apps on. I worked with CentOS, Ubuntu, Solus, Mint, [Docker] and a few other environments. A great habit I started a while ago is to think about writing shell scripts for every repetitive or tiresome task I have, which yields a better use of my time at the end of the day.
To program FOR the Windows platform is definitely not the same thing as programming ON the Windows platform. In fact, a deep knowledge of the APIs is required in order to develop for Windows, which turns out to be absolutely essential to make destop apps on the platform.

Being effectively qualified as a programmer specialized in the multimedia field, and with my own and unique academic and professionnal path, I was effectively able to collect an important amount of skillset in various related domains.
My years of experience in programming have granted me the capacity to achieve a plethora of great projects and realizations, and I have all the motivation needed to continue following this path by contributing with all this knowledge and related expertise by putting it in practice.
Research project completed at University of Sherbrooke. The project's goal was to be able to decipher the played notes of a recording independently of the musical instrument playing them, by decomposing the frequencies and writing them as binary MIDI files. These files can then be replayed without regards to the recording afterwards. Done using pure C++ and Make/CMake on Linux, with the significant support of MATLAB for validation and such.
Movie making software created by Autodesk. I had the chance to contribute and upgrade the user interface as well as the OpenGL aspect of the 2023 version of the product. This massive software brought us movies like Avatar, Titanic, Life of Pi, Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows, as well as many other AAA movies.
Matricial calculator implemented for my girlfriend in the mathematics field of study. The calculator can compute row-echelon, determinants, inverses, multiplications, and all the common matricial operations. Not only can it do that, but it is able to compute these calculations inside an integer field congruant to any Z value, which is made possible by using Euler's method.
Winning game of the April 2022 Eidoss Sherbrooke GameJam, which was on the theme of duality. The game was developed using Godot and it is a 2-player game on the same computer. Each player has the goal of reaching the other player's side of the map by using melee attacks, all by being careful of not falling in one of the many traps scattered among the scary-gore-themed level! The perfect mix of man and machine.
It consists of a fighting game developed using Unreal Engine 5 in C++. The gameplay is based on pool fights, and pushes the concept to its limit, where the contestants participate in a much more deadlier version of the same pool fighting, water splashing game we all played as children. The game is still a work in progress and is currently being developed by our small team of 4 people consisting of university friends.
Chicken Soccer is a final-year project where two players compete in a local area network (LAN) match, each supported by a team of chickens. The game is inspired by Mario Strikers in several ways, such as the implementation of autonomous artificial intelligence, the pass detection and management system to other players, and the tackle mechanics. Packed with nearly as many ideas as bugs, it gave four students, myself included, the opportunity to explore the full potential of programming. The game was developed in Unity using C♯.
An Android mobile app project that roots its source from the need to reconnect people during COVID-19. The app itself presents the user different activities over a public map (ex: soccer game, show, videogame tournament) in which they can participate. Initially developed using Xamarin C♯, it was redone entirely using Kotlin, the native Android language. Also features a Facebook API authentication.
A contractual game project aiming to convert a board game and transform it into a mobile game, available for everyone to play as a demo and promoting tool for the actual game. Being the sole developper, I was able to effectively and single-handedly integrate Unity ads to the game and have a complete and fun game loop, but the development halted, since the enterprise didn't have the necessary funds to pursue the project's development. For these reasons, the download link is no longer available, since the app was discontinued.
A mobile app game project made with the Godot game engine, similar to python. The concept is based on an idle game idea, where the player places walls to collect points and avoid maluses. With points, the player can buy upgrades. Developed with a small team consisting of 4 people, with myself being the project's lead programmer.
Software development at smaller companies such as Mirametrix is riddled with ambiguity, which [Alexis] have maneuvered capably. [He] quickly tries solutions [he] comes up with until [he] discovers one that works. And when objectives change, [Alexis] quickly adapts and gets the work done.
You didn't have to do all that [part of the software]... But I'm really glad you did it!
Alexis is an invaluable resource for our enterprise, since he has knowledge about what goes behind all those new upcoming bleeding edge technology [such as VR, Unreal Engine, etc.] He has the potential to makes us on par with the competition that choose those alternatives.
